But before that I had some alone time (thanks Kelly!) to start (yes, really start) packing. Since our house has to be show ready all the time, everything got thrown into the attic. Granted it wasn't that great before, but now it looks like a tornado went through it (ha!-couldn't resist). So I spent a couple of hours going through boxes and trying to decide what would make the move.
Items (so far) that made the cut:
- rainbow colored "magic" tutu from my first ballet recital
- 1 Christmas wreath
- "The Bear's Picnic" book with cassette tape
- more fall decorations than I'd like to mention
- 6 pairs of dance tights & 2 other bags of dance costumes
- 4 other Christmas wreaths
- long Rubbermaid box filled with Christmas wrapping paper, ribbon, etc.
- more Christmas decorations than I'd like to mention
This is where the tutu meets the tornado. Aren't we all just one tornado/fire/earthquake/flood/alien invasion away from losing it all anyway? I should be rejoicing at the chance to thin the herd & give/sell my stuff to people who could really use it. After all,
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth , where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven...for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19
Our attic-yes, it's really as bad as it looks |
Thankfully my 2nd grade teacher wasn't here to enforce the correct tornado position |
Hi Melissa, It looks like you still have room in your attic for more "stuff"!! I'm a good organizer......... should I hop a flight and come help you??? Wish I could, but I'm sure you'll get through it all with flying colors!!
ReplyDeleteAnd you're a dancer too!! Fun!! Looks like the boys didn't miss a beat in the sleep department! Here's a quote that I'm sure you've already heard: "God can't give you the blessings He has for you until you first put down the other things you are clutching in your hands."
Praying for renewed strength today for you! Love you, Tricia
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one holding on to childhood things. I could really relate to this post. Thank you for reminding me of the important things! Thinking of you!- Love, Emily Gentzler
ReplyDeleteMelissa - hate to tell you, but I thinking "hoarding" may be in your DNA! LOL. Just sayin' Your Grandpa was a a great hoarder and I did my share! But-- I have been doing great lately on cleaning out, throwing out, and organizing. Maybe one of these days I will feel I have accomplished the job - but probably not. Been thinking about you. Love you. Happy Easter!

ReplyDeleteI wrote you a note and it is not here...I mentioned how much I enjoyed your post and how good it is to move so one can purge alot of their stuff! We do not have an attic but we have a garage and work shop full of boxes! What are in those boxes??? Do we really want to keep a million zillion videos? Do we want to replace them all with new DVDS? I think NOT!!! God bless you as you purge alot of stuff...best part of moving into a new place, all fresh and clean.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Melinda I hope this copies this time!
